EE TV Box Remote Control Troubleshooting Steps

NOTE: This article applies to the remote control supplied with a BT TV Box Mini, BT TV Box Pro, EE TV Box Mini or EE TV Box Pro (The only difference between the BT & EE Remotes is the Company Logo Button at the top of the remote)

Power check

Press the logo button EE or BT to ensure that it flashes, this means that the remote has power! If no flash, inspect the orientation of the batteries as they are easy to put in the wrong way.

Pairing

If the remote control does not pair with your EE TV Box Pro/TV Box Mini automatically. (E.G. no matter what button you press nothing happens)

For a brand new EE TV Box Remote Control upon receipt, pop in the 2 x AAA batteries(or remove the pull tab if installed) and follow the steps.

STEP 1. Power on your TV Box using the power button at the front of the tv box and wait until it has fully loaded.

STEP 2. Now pair the EE TV Box Bluetooth remote to your EE TV Box

Hold down Home Button and 7 until the remote flashes 3 times and let go. 

TV not being powered off/volume not working

If the remote doesn't control the TV Volume and power 

Reset the remote

Hold down the Home button and 9 until the remote flashes 3 times and let go

Lost Remote Control (TV Box Pro models only)

Press the WPS Button on the right side of the TV Box Pro for a second, your remote will start to beep for 30 seconds

Sound/Volume Control problems

First, ensure the mute button isn't accidentally activated on your TV remote or EE remote, and that the volume is turned up on both remotes

Check controlling source

1.Go to Settings on the EE TV Box Pro

2. Scroll down to 'Connected Devices' and Go to Bluetooth Remote

3.Go to Control Volume and Source – If set to TV

4. Change to 'Set Top Box'

5. Click 'Done'

NOTE: Also it shows the strength of your AA batteries within the remote control, be mindful of maintaining a strong set.

Additional steps to try

Rule Out HDMI Audio issues: Using the original supplied remote for your TV(E.G. You have a Samsung TV, using the Samsung TV remote ensure the volume works). You may need to change AV Input/Source to Live TV and then Switch back

Soundbar settings

If you have a soundbar, To troubleshoot sound issues with your EE TV Box Pro and soundbar, start by checking the connections and settings on both the TV and the soundbar. Ensure the HDMI cable is securely plugged into both devices and that the correct audio input is selected on the soundbar. Also, verify the EE TV Box Pro's audio settings, potentially switching between "Surround" and "Stereo" depending on your soundbar's capabilities. If problems persist, try restarting both the TV and the soundbar, and consider checking for software updates. 

Go to the EE TV Box Pro settings, navigate to "Picture & Sound", and try changing the "HDMI Audio Format" to "SURROUND" or "STEREO", depending on your soundbar's capabilities. 

Reset and Restart:

Restart/Power Cycle: Try restarting both the EE TV Box Pro and the soundbar. Shut them down via the remotes or power button, then unplugging them from the power outlet, waiting a few seconds, and plugging them back in.
